Atty. Pablo Mejia Gancayco is the Senior Partner of Gancayco, Balasbas & Associates Law Offices in Manila. Born on July 1, 1957, he is the son of the late Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Emilio A. Gancayco, and Herminia M. Gancayco, a former PNB auditor and public school teacher.

He earned his A.B. Political Science (1978) and Bachelor of Laws (1983) degrees from the University of the Philippines, where he received numerous academic honors, and later pursued an Intensive Course on Industrial Property in Europe at Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, France, in 1998.

As an Intellectual Property Lawyer, Atty. Gancayco is a dedicated member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) for over 35 years. He currently serves as its Vice President and Council Member since 2012, and he previously served as Senior Vice President, Executive Committee Member, and Advisory Committee Member. In addition, Atty. Gancayco serves as Director, Past Chairman, and Past President of the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines (IPAP); Private Sector Representative to the Promotions Board of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL); Founding Councilor and Past Philippine Group Head of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association (AIPA); and Past National Group President of the Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI).

In the business and government sector, he also serves as Chairman of GS1 Philippines, Director and Immediate Past Chairman of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), and Director of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Philippines, where he oversees arbitration and intellectual property. Additionally, he is Corporate Secretary and Legal Counsel of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and chairs its Philippine Local Government Units Business Awards for 2024–2025.

Atty. Pablo Gancayco has also been deeply active in civic work, notably through Rotary International District 3780 Quezon City, where he served as District Governor for the year 2010–2011, Chairman and CEO of the Philippine College of Rotary Governors, and Chairman of the Philippine Rotary Magazine Foundation.

His work in the legal practice and his leadership has earned him numerous distinctions, including the 2023 Enduring Award by the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), the Lawyer of Excellence Award (2025) from the Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards, and recognition among the Outstanding Men and Women of the Philippines (2023).

He is married to Atty. Dot Balasbas-Gancayco, an intellectual property lawyer and professor. They have two children: Gian Paolo Emilio “Jon” Gancayco”, a multi-awarded realtor, and Atty. Bianca Micaela “Mika” Gancayco, who is currently pursuing her Master of Laws at UCLA in Los Angeles, California.
